ABOUT
Trained in St Petersburg, Efim Zaválny has performed a wide range of operatic roles across Russia and Europe, including Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Silvio (Pagliacci), Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Tomsky (The Queen of Spades), Prince Bolkonsky (War and Peace),Michonnet (Adriana Lecouvreur), and Ping (Turandot). As a member of the Mariinsky Theatre ensemble for several years, he appeared in productions both in St Petersburg and on international tours.In 2022, Efim left Russia for political reasons. He now lives in London, where he continues to perform and teach.A dedicated chamber musician, Efim frequently appears in recital with his wife and long-time collaborator, pianist Rebekka Magomedova — also formerly of the Mariinsky. Together, they present programmes exploring Russian art song and opera, alongside German lieder and selected European repertoire.Efim is available for concerts, opera productions, and collaborative projects.
